BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF GOKWE

OCTOBER 1991. The diocese is 26 000 square kilometers. Gokwe is 99% rural. His Lordship Michael Dixon Bhasera was ordained Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Gokwe on 17 June 1991. In 1999 Bishop Angel Floro was appointed and ordained Bishop successor of Michael Bhasera. On 29 April 2017, Rt Rev Bishop Nyandoro was ordained Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Gokwe. Rev. Bishop Eusebius Nyathi is the 4th Bishop of the Diocese of Gokwe. He was appointed Bishop  of  Gokwe on the 23rd of July 2023, ordained and installed on the 23rd of September 2023. Currently he is the Bishop chair of education of the ZCBC.

From two primary schools, the diocese now have 25 schools and 23 missions.
